Description
The lLE42794G is a monolithic integrated low dropout voltageregulator, especially designed for automotive applications. An inputvoltage up to 45 V is regulated to an output voltage of 5.0 V. Thecomponent is able to drive loads up to 150 mA. lt is short-circuitprotected by the implemented current limitation and has an integratedovertemperature shutdown. A reset signal is generated for an outputvoltage Va.rt of typically 4.65 V. This threshold can be decreased byan external resistor divider. The power-on reset delay time can beprogrammed by the external delay capacitor. The additional sensecomparator provides an early warning function: Any voltage (e.g. theinput voltage) can be monitored, an under-voltage condition is indicatedby setting the comparator's output to low. lf pull-up resistors are desiredat the outputs of the reset and the sense comparator, the lLE42694 withintegrated pull-up reistors can be used instead of the lLE42794.

The input capacitor G is recommended for compensation of line influences. The output capacitor Ca isnecessary for the stability of the control loop.
Circuit Description
The control amplifier compares a reference voltage to a voltage that is proportional to the output voltage anddrives the base of the series transistor via a bufer.
